Why don't plastic hippies just go away already??
Do you believe there is no such thing as a "modern hippie" and that people who claim to be a hippie are truly "plastic hippies"? I'm sorry, but drawing peace signs in your notebook and myspaces, smoking weed, drinking alchohal, and randomly throwing up peace signs is not what it means to be a hippie. I know who you are, your the person who now has all their Bob Marley and ACDC posters hidden in the back of the closet just like all the other poser items. What happened for your love and passion for Bob Marley?? He was your idol just two years ago. Oh yeah, thats right, you never truly even liked him. It was a cruel fad. A fad which show great disrespect to people who made impacts in our history today. There are plenty of people who have the mentality of a hippie 40 years ago, yet don't dress like one to prove it. The only modern hippies I believe exist, are the people who were hippies for years ago to today.
I respect Neo-Hippies though, the children of the true hippies 40 years ago. I there people who claim to be hippies, aren't hippies but share similarities to hippies in the past, I just think it's disrespectful to call yourself a hippie and yet, haven't been through and experienced all the things they have.

Wtf sweetheart, the world is always real, in this realworld, there are just some people who live in a fantasy. There are issues today and there were yesterday...Respect it.

I think if you call yourself a hippy in this day, then you truly aren't one. Someone can have a hippie mentality, but still dress anyway they want. At the beginning didn't the hippie era start psychologically?? With the invention of LSD, experimentation...mind trips?
Coolluke, I hope your realize that you aren't really cool. Do you understand the point in which I tried to make?? Yes, of course some of these people were influenced because they wanted to be influenced, yet the issues in those eras were so much mroe different than they are today. i think it would be rather silly to say that there are such a thing as hippies today. Hippie isn't just a term.
